  I’ve never been successful with spam filters, the blacklist becomes huge and unwieldy, and second, spam sites find ways around filters by registering new domain names constantly, often with innocent names so they don’t get picked up.

  I use captcha comments, they seem to prevent the automated spam, and only occasionally is a manual entry posted, which you can’t really guard against anyhow, if you are inviting Tom, Dick and Harry to comment…

  My drupal blog sometimes gets hit by spam robots, but only on early posts.

  Captcha has its problems. What happens if you cannot see the images etc. There are a lot of accessibility implications. What would you do if using Lynx, or audio browser for example…

  I would prefer to let people comment in the first place, and then remove spam comments rather than stop people from commenting in the first place!

  I appreciate the concern which is been rose. The things need to be sorted out because it’s not about the individual but it can be with everyone.
